Welcome to Hurghada and Rea Sea

Ahmed H Abdelazeem
Congress General Secretary
Vice president SICOT-YSC

On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to welcome you all to this combined meeting; The International Annual Young Surgeons Meeting of SICOT and The Annual Spring Meeting of the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association,  which will be held from the 5th to 7th of March, 2020 in Hurghada, Red Sea governorate, Egypt.

First, I would like to tell you how the idea of this meeting arose…?

Every year, the Egyptian Orthopaedics Association organises two major meetings; first is held in the capital city of Egypt, Cairo, at the end of the year, while, the second is held in other cities during the spring. On the other hand, the SICOT encourages its young surgeons committee to organise an annual meeting dedicated to trainees and young members in parallel with its annual official congress.  Several international trainees’ meetings were successfully held in United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Egypt and Morocco as well as many other locally organised meetings.

Knowing and believing in the power and influence of each society, it has been the idea of getting both together, utilizing the long lasting experience they have in producing very successful and strong scientific event.

As an Egyptian doctor, I can touch the influence of the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association in the Middle East region and Africa. As a member of the SICOT organisation, I can touch the influence of this international organisation in orthopaedic practice in general. Getting both organisations together will certainly benefit the attendees and participants of this great event, especially that it provides the opportunity to the young surgeons to meet the experts of both societies.

The location and the timing of this event have been chosen to make this event a memorable experience.
It will be held during spring in one of the best destinations in the whole world. The Red Sea and Hurghada are well known worldwide for their beaches, sun and water sports especially scuba diving. Holding this meeting, in this destination, during this time of the year… will make this meeting not only scientifically beneficial but also socially admirable.

Scientifically, the scientific committee is planning to hold it in a new different format. A format that fits the needs of young surgeons and is based on interaction. It will include lectures from experts in different fields of orthopaedics and trauma as well as multiple interesting cases for discussion with experts. Moreover, the young surgeons from different parts of the world, will have a ample opportunities to present their work and compete for the best presentations and free papers awards.

This meeting will be held at an international level. The organising committee is looking for attendees from all over the world. For this reason, this special new website was been published online for all interested surgeons to follow the news, register and submit their work.

The success of this meeting will be built on three pillars.

First; the continuous successful cooperation between the SICOT and the EOA.

Second; the new ideas and congress format suggested by the young generation of surgeons organising the event, based on interaction between young surgeons together, and the experts.

Third; the power of having attendees from different schools coming together and sharing their different experiences.

We are looking forwards for a wonderful and successful event. We are looking for your precious contribution….

Waiting to see you in Egypt…. Waiting to see you in Hurghada and Red Sea during the Spring of 2020….!!!
